Law Librarian

Lindquist & Vennum, a downtown Minneapolis law firm, has an opening for a Librarian in our Library Services department. The candidate will manage a variety of critical library technical processes (ordering, cataloging/routing utilizing the firm's online library system & intranet) and assist/instruct our attorneys in finding and utilizing library resources, both print and electronic. The candidate will also provide reference services, legal/non-legal research (to back up Research Librarian) and other duties as required.

A MLS or BA equivalent is required. The ideal candidate will have knowledge of legal and business reference sources, familiarity with Library of Congress classification system, a strong service orientation, ability to work independently, multi-task, set priorities and meet deadlines in a fast-paced legal environment. Library experience is required, law library experience preferred.

Library Assistant (30 hrs/week)

We have an opening for a Library Assistant in our Information Resources department. In this position, you will manage the physical library collections; assist the Acquisitions Specialist in preparing invoices for payment; and process all loose-leaf filing and periodicals. The Library Assistant also supports collection development, maintains and enhances relationships with library users, and preserves the integrity of the holdings information in the library catalog. Our ideal candidate will have an interest and/or experience in libraries, strong organization skills, and possess a solid service orientation.

This position is part time requiring you to work 30 hours a week.

Qualifications:
  • A high school diploma is required. Previous word processing and spreadsheet experience is also required. Candidate must be able to pay attention to details and also have the ability to quickly learn new processes.
